Amherst Books is a locally owned, independent bookshop. We sell new & used books. Our particular strengths include poetry, literature, & philosophy. We carry a large selection of small press titles & literary journals.

Hours of Operation during the Covid 19 pandemic
We are now open for safe browsing during these hours:
Tuesday through Thursday, 10:00am — 4:00pm
Friday - Saturday, 10:00am — 6:00pm
(Closed Sunday & Monday)
N.B. The Literature, Children’s, Graphic Novel, & Literary Criticism sections are closed for browsing when we have readings. If you are planning to come in to browse or buy from those sections please check our events schedule beforehand. (Events)
Amherst Books is at the center of downtown Amherst at 8 Main Street. There is a Subway sandwich place next to us at the corner of Pleasant Street. For those of you familiar with Amherst, we're just around the corner from Antonio's Pizza.
The town parking lot is just behind our block.
Peter Pan buses stop just three-quarters of a block away on South Pleasant Street at the PVTA bus kiosk. (In front of the Fiber Arts Center.)
