Guttmann, who teaches in the English Department at Amherst College, is author of a series of studies on sports, including From Ritual to Record: The Nature of Modern Sports ; Sports: The First Five Millennia; & The Olympics: A History of Modern Games .

Mathias Svalina, Gabe Durham, & Emily Toder will read from recent work.   Svalina is a co-editor of Octopus Books & Octopus Magazine.   He is the author of Destruction Myth & the recently released I Am A Very Productive Entrepreneur.   Durham is author of Fun Camp, forthcoming from Mud Luscious Press.   His writings have appeared in Diagram, Mid-American Review, & Quarterly West.   Toder is a translator, archivist, & letterpress printer.   She is the author of the chapbook Brushes With; & is translator of Life & Memoirs of Doctor Pi by Edgar Bayley.   Her work has appeared in jubilat, Sink Review, The Rialto, not nostrums, Gulf Coast, & other journals.
