Jason Stanley talk about "Fascism as a Social Kind" as the 2021 Mathews Memorial Lecture in the Old Chapel, UMass, Amherst.   Stanley, who teaches philosophy at Yale, has published widely in the philosophy of language & politics. Two books on politics, How Propaganda Works & How Fascism Works: The Politics of Us & Them, will be available.   For more information, go to here.
Sabina Murray will read from her new novel, The Human Zoo, at the Old Chapel, UMass, Amherst.   Murray is the author of seven books of fiction, including Valiant Gentlemen, a New York Times & a Washington Post Notable Book; the short story collection The Caprices, which won the 2002 PEN/Faulkner Award; Slow Burn; A Carnivore’s Inquiry; Forgery; & Tales of the New World.   She has received the Samuel Conti Award from the University of Massachusetts & the Fred Brown Award from the University of Pittsburgh.   Murray teaches in the Creative Writing Program at the University of Massachusetts here in Amherst.   This reading is by registration only.   For more information go to the UMass MFA Visiting Writers website.
