Help us celebrate the publication of two new books by Amherst College professors Wendy Ewald & Martha Saxton & their community collaborators.   In This is Where I Live Ewald offered cameras to children in 14 different communities in Israel & the West Bank.   The collected images, accompanied by interviews & statements by the photographers, evoke the vitality of the region’s cultural landscape.   Ewald & Saxton compare the historical missionary vision of Amherst College with practices & policies of contemporary area charitable organizations in The Transformation of this World Depends on You.

Jenny Offill will read recent work.   Offill is author of two novels, Last Things, which was a New York Times Notable book & a finalist for the L.A Times First Book Award; & Dept. of Speculation, which was named one of the 10 Best Books of 2014 by the New York Times Book Review; as well as two children’s books—17 Things I'm Not Allowed to Do Anymore & 11 Experiments that Failed.   She is also an editor of Money Changes Everything: Twenty-Two Writers Tackle the Last Taboo with Tales of Sudden Windfalls, Staggering Debts, & Other Surprising Turns.   Co-sponsored by the Amherst College Visiting Writers Series.
